Haven't played Bridge since college? Jump into our group. We are furthering our learning and meeting new friends. All levels welcome.
Come, enjoy the company, conversation, and have a cup of coffee. Everyone is welcome, especially visitors wanting to learn more about the Newcomers Club of Honolulu.
It's fun and social, as handicaps are unimportant, and the groups who tee off in the morning come together for lunch afterwards. Members play the second and fourth Mondays of each month, excluding holidays. During the year, golfers may play on as many as 9 different courses, including Ewa Beach, Pearl Country Club, Hawaii Prince, Royal Hawaiian and Turtle Bay. We negotiate special rates when possible.
A special note to Snowbirds and those who travel frequently: this is a no-commitment activity. You can play as often or as little as your schedule permits. And as part of the Newcomers Club group, Snowbirds may receive a "kamaina" discount from the golf course.
Every skill level is represented. Because of the different course setups, men play with men, and women play with women. Nominal dues cover handicap and tracking, membership in state golf associations, and contribution towards "Most Improved Player" awards.
Fresh air, exercise, fun and food. Come join a great group of people!

A monthly sit-down lunch at a rotating selection of local restaurants. Locations are announced ahead of time in the NCH Newsletter; while RSVPs help the organizer and restaurant plan accordingly.

The focus is on fun and camaraderie with a maximum of laughs and a minimum of fuss. Mah Jongg is easy, addicting, and a healthy mental practice to acquire. All levels welcome.
While Mah Jongg is a Chinese game; the Club is playing American Mah Jongg. It is usually played by four people at a table, with 136 or 144 rectangular pieces called "tiles". As in card games such as gin rummy, the object is to collect winning sets of these tiles. A winning set is designated on an official Mah Jongg card.
Join us for DVDs of opera or ballet performances. Dates vary so details will be in each month's NCH Newsletter.
"Pa'ina" is Hawaiian for "party with food". Join your Newcomers Club friends for events of various kinds. Generally a casual potluck-style gathering (pa'ina) with food and conversation. Everyone brings a dish to share; the location rotates among members' homes and community spaces.
For potluck events, please bring a generous dish to share and utensils if needed. Bring your own drinks (please, no red wine). If you bring a friend, please ask them to also bring a dish to share.
Occassionally it might be a "sunset party" with drinks and appetizers at a favorite watering hole. Or dinner at a special restaurant. Or a picnic at a beach park.
These activities sometimes include a planned program with a keynote speaker or live entertainment.

Tours vary from month to month and year to year. They provide an excellent opportunity to learn more about Oahu and to enjoy the camaraderie of other Newcomers. Destinations and details are shared ahead of time in the NCH Newsletter, along with any possible admission costs.
